Towel warmer

There is a towel warmer in the washroom. Please use it as a towel rack.
* Please note that although it also functions as a heater, it does not heat up in the summer months.
If you want to hang a large towel, such as a bath towel, please use the hanger rack provided in your room.

Wooden window frame

The window frame on the balcony side of the room is made of wood, which provides effective insulation and is in tune with the design and atmosphere of the building. It is a little heavier than aluminum window frames, and as a natural material it may become difficult to open depending on the temperature and humidity. We appreciate your understanding.

Washing machine/Dryer

Guests requiring to wash laundry are welcome to use the washing machine and dryer on the 1st floor. Please ask our staff for details. Please note that these machines are also used by our staff.

Use of the kitchen studio

The cooking equipment and tableware in the kitchen studio is available for guest use from 6pm until 9pm. If you want to use these facilities, please ask a staff member for an explanation during opening hours. We ask that you clean up after use.
*Please note that we sometimes hold events in the kitchen studio area, in which case it will not be available. Please ask in advance.

Efforts to reduce environmental impact

We aim to be an environmentally-friendly accommodation provider. To that end, we implement the following measures and would appreciate your cooperation:

・Disposable amenities: we ask that you bring your own toiletries to reduce the amount of plastic waste. However, the following items are available at the NINO-MACHI reception on request:
razor and hairbrush for free and toothbrush for sale.

・Separation of garbage: we aim to recycle as much waste as possible and would appreciate your help in this endeavour. Please use the ‘cans/bottles’ bin in your room for the items below.

Recyclable Items in the area
・Glass bottles/jars/metal cans
・Plastic bottles/bottle caps (please use ‘cans/bottles’ bin as well)
・Plastic packaging (Please separate the items if possible)
・Paper/cardboard (Please separate the items if possible)
* Hida City requires plastic bottles to be rinsed with water before disposal. Dirty plastic packaging is treated as combustible waste and cannot be recycled.

・Cleaning: For guests staying two or more consecutive nights
In line with our sustainability policy, we do not provide daily cleaning service for stays of three nights or less. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to replace towels, linen or empty the trash.

About suitcases with casters

The floors and corridors of the guest rooms are covered with tatami mats. Cypress wood is used on the stairs. Both materials are easily scratched or damaged by suitcase casters. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we ask that you carry your suitcases without rolling. Our staff will be delighted to help if required.

No smoking policy throughout

The entire building is non-smoking, including the balconies and garden. This policy is strictly enforced due to the number of wooden buildings in our vicinity. We ask for your cooperation. There is a small open air pavilion a short distance from our building where smoking is permitted. Just ask our staff for directions.

A wooden townhouse in a quiet town…

Although built with a soundproof design, footsteps and voices will inevitably carry in wooden buildings like this one. Also, like old-fashioned townhouses, the building adjoins the neighbouring house. So we ask you to be considerate, avoiding loud noise after 21:00, especially in public areas of the building and outside the entrance.

Suggestions for enjoying the town of Furukawa

Though a small town, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and attractions to be explored. Our staff are experts when it comes to local amenities so don’t hesitate to tap into their knowledge for recommendations. Bear in mind that in this rural area eating places and shops tend to close earlier than in the big cities. Best to go out early!

Tours and activities

We are delighted to arrange a variety of activities, from cycling and walking tours to Shirakawa-go day trips. Please check out our tours on satoyama-experience.com or ask our staff for tour booking or travel arrangements.
